I am an artist and a designer/maker, living and working in the beautiful coastal estuary town of Wivenhoe in Essex.

After completing my studies in The Diploma of Contemporary Stitched Textiles, I have been refining my techniques and developing my own unique style.

I love colour and my textile and mixed media art reflects my love of the beautiful coast lines of East Anglia and the shores of Normandy France.

I love stitching and I am excited and challenged  by the richness and vibrancy of colour and texture and experimenting with new processes and materials. My work combines an eclectic mix of both simple and complex materials and techniques including: hand dyed fabric and threads, handmade silk paper, paint, bonderweb, machine and hand stitching finished with buttons, beads embellishments and sometimes found objects such as driftwood, glass and metal.

I am currently exploring and experimenting with photography and printmaking and incorporating this into my textile work.

Along with my creative work, I also enjoy researching the history of textiles and embroidery, particularly where this relates to social history. My research has included the study of:

  • The History of English Embroidery

  • Indian Kantha and Shisha Embroidery

  • The Bayeux Tapestry

  • The History of Chinese Indigo
